Texas Instruments Announces National Design Contest

Texas Instruments announced its nationwide GraphiTI contest where students and teachers submit original designs in an online competition for prizes. The two winning designs will be reproduced in a special-edition printing of calculator skins, adhesive stickers that students and teachers place on the slide case covers of their TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculators for personalization.

Students, and now teachers, can enter the contest by visiting http://www.tibacktoschool.com to create their own GraphiTI design using an online tool that features various backgrounds, colors and patterns. It also allows them to upload personal images that fit into the GraphiTI template. Via the Web site, students and teachers, along with their friends and families, can view and vote for their favorite designs. The top 10 entries will then be judged by a panel of celebrities who will determine the Grand Prize and First Prize winners.

Last year’s GraphiTI contest generated more than 3,500 student entries, and because of its overwhelming popularity, a new category has been added to include teachers. The GraphiTI contest will award one student and one teacher each the Grand Prize of a $1,000 shopping spree for themselves and a TI-Navigator classroom learning system plus a classroom set of 30 TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculators for their respective schools. TI also will award 20 First Prizes to 10 students and 10 teachers, who will each win their own TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. The deadline for contest entries is September 29, 2006. Complete rules for the contest can be viewed at http://www.tibacktoschool.com .
