Bank of America and Lowe’s Motor Speedway Give Fans the Chance to Be Grand Marshal of the Bank of America 500 with NASCAR Legends
Fans of America’s fastest growing spectator sport will get the opportunity to start the Bank of America 500 by participating in the “Bank of America 500 Honorary Grand Marshal” contest. The contest — a joint effort between Bank of America and Lowe’s Motor Speedway — offers race fans the chance to audition their best ’start your engines’ command before a panel of celebrity judges. The winning fan will be designated Honorary Grand Marshal for the inaugural Bank of America 500 on October 14th at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, earning the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to announce the start of the race on national television, in front of 180,000 race fans and alongside some of NASCAR’s biggest legends whose achievements at Lowe’s will be celebrated prior to the race.
Fans have two ways to win one of 25 spots to compete in the “Bank of America 500 Honorary Grand Marshal” contest, which will be held in Victory Lane at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on September 14, 2006. Fans can tune in to Sports Radio 610 AM WFNZ or WSOC FM 103.7 every day from September 6-12 when two winners will be chosen each day by each radio station to compete in the contest. Fans may also register to win a contest spot on-site at the Food Lion AutoFair at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on September 14.
In total, 25 fans will audition before a panel of celebrity judges who will score each “Gentlemen, Start Your Engines” performance on delivery, creativity and overall enthusiasm. The winning performance will earn one lucky fan the title of “Honorary Grand Marshal” of the Bank of America 500, a VIP experience on race day for them and a guest, including pit passes, seats in the Bank of America Turn 4 Club — a newly created, exclusive fan section that provides access to a private food court, food and beverage vouchers — and a gift pack of Bank of America 500 racing merchandise.
